Yes and many companies actually do this.

A very good company to get cheap domains is godaddy.com.

Then do a google search for %26quot;domain appraisal%26quot;.

In order for your domain to have any value, it must obviously be marketable and something someone wants. Buying a domain that matches your name to sell is pretty pointless if you pretty much only have that name.

I found this site that can help you get started. But like it says, there isn%26#039;t a real market for domain names anymore, and with laws regarding trademark protection against using names that are similar to other names ( I%26#039;ve seen cases where this goes both ways), I wouldn%26#039;t suggest it.

If you want to make money off the Internet or Web, use the Web 2.0 technology or even Ebay or Amazon.

That web site is here:

Dirty rotten scoundrels swiped up mine after I didn%26#039;t renew it and they offered to sell it back to me for a price; fricking leaches! No respect, they should be the crud between the toes of an elephant.

Other Replys:Of course it%26#039;s possible; the registrar doesn%26#039;t care at all what you do with the domain, he just takes your money and sets up the domain and then renews it every year.

However... if you choose a name like, say, coolart.com and do nothing at all with it then somebody open a legitimate business called Cool Art and wants that domain, you%26#039;ll have a fight on your hands because the rules and regs on domain name usage is that if the domain is not in active use (web, mail, something) then ownership can be successfully challenged. The rule is generally written to discourage domain squatting.

If you actually have a web page and/or hosting e-mail or some other service with the domain name (I mean really using it, not just putting up a dummy %26quot;under construction%26quot; page) then the challenger will lose.

Other Replys:Yes it is. In a lot of cases people do this so they can sell it when/if that name becomes required by a company. Look at Microsoft. The domain name was previously owned by another person ( Can%26#039;t remember their name). Domain%26#039;s 19.95+ taxes a year but if you can manage to pick one that may be in demand. There is a good chance you can sell it later. If that is what you are trying to do.

Other Replys:Yes, you can register as many domain names as you%26#039;d like and choose to have them parked until you find a hosting provider. To do so, register a domain name and select %26quot;Parking.%26quot; If this option is chosen, a temporary Parked Page displays whenever somebody types your domain name in their browser. This temporary page will inform anyone passing by that this is the future location of your site.

A parked page will be active in 4-8 hours for .COM and .NET domains, and about 24-48 hours for all other domain extensions.

Besides setting up your Web site, there are a number of things you can do with your domain once you register it.

Sell it. Domain names can be a great investment. If you have registered a domain name that you are not using, maybe someone else can. Log in to your Account Manager and set up a For Sale parked page for your domain name. Don%26#039;t forget to include your contact information.

Protect your brand online. The more domain names you register, the better. Prevent others from registering a similar domain name to yours閳ユ攱ust to steal away your customers. What to do with all these names? Forward them to your main domain name.

Hold on to it. Maybe you haven閳ユ獩 decided what to do with your new domain name. Don閳ユ獩 worry 閳?there閳ユ獨 no rush. You can leave it parked with us for the length of your registration.

Make use of the cheapest domain name prices at http://www.domain-name-register-store.co... within 1 week.

.info $1.99 per year!!

.com $6.95 per year!! (Just few days more)

Good Luck! Make your move NOW.

Other Replys:You can, but usually domain names are only registered for 2yrs inbetween renewals - some hosts will automatically renew for you, providing your payment details are kept up to date with them.

See http://www.1and1.co.uk/?k_id=3794345 and look up the section %26quot;Domains%26quot;

Other Replys:yes just IM me at rakeshloving@yahoo.co.in I will explain u!!!! Its gr8 idea and people r doing it!!!!!!!!!
