Web Contract Jursdiction?

If an internet company facilitates web contracts between different individuals from many different states on a systematic basis, which jurisdiction (state laws) apply to the web contracts? Does the jurisdiction of an internet web contract apply where the host server is located? Or where the Offeror learns of acceptance? Or whatever State plays the most significant role in the web contract?

(*note: this is assuming that the web contract clearly outlines that the internet company%26#039;s home state laws apply and that UCITA has not been adopted by most states)

Web Contract Jursdiction?

This is a complex question and it has no simple answer. Each State (in the US) has its own statutes governing jurisdictional issues, and the nature of the claim may determine the proper jurisdiction. In general, it can be where the customer resides, where the company resides or is doing business, or it can be Federal, if certain criteria are met. The language in the electronic contract may or may not limit jurisdiction. You should ask your attorney for advice.

Is it illegal to host torrents on my web site even if the host is from Spain? can i get sued?

I am trying to create a website that will host torrent files. is this illegal? i am trying to replicate this website: lokotorrents.com.

Is it illegal to host torrents on my web site even if the host is from Spain? can i get sued?

Well the person above is inaccurate, as long as you state that the files are not hosted on this server, and here for educational purposes, and that we the company are not liable for this sites use. But if you have illegal files, then yes, torrents are not illegal, there just P2P

Is it illegal to host torrents on my web site even if the host is from Spain? can i get sued?

i dont like ur web site

Other Replys:If your host is on US territory. You should not do this. It is illegal. You will be responsible for all illegal activity for hosting the torrent.

Other Replys:Trying to replicate a torrent site? I don%26#039;t get the idea. What good would it do? Torrents upload/download the same way no matter if the torrent file was taken from your site or the original site.

If what the original site is doing is not illegal, replicating that site should not be illegal. But you should be consulting the original site for this. If replicating does any good, they will be happy to see that you are willing to do so.

Web page question?

I have a web page, and I want to put some pictures on it. I figured out how to do it on frontpage, but when I put it on, it comes up with a little red X that I know means it%26#039;s being censored by my computer. The image is a pic of a Harry Potter book. It is in an allowed format by bravnet (my host) and I have tried many times to get it right. How can I make it show up uncensored so I can see it when I go to the page? Do I need to do something with my browser, msn explorer? I use frontpage to make web pages, my page is hosted by bravenet, and I am using msn explorer to look at it, although I have the same problem with intranet explorer. Can anyone help?

Here is the problamatic page

Web page question?

I%26#039;ll check it out.

Are you sure the image Book1.jpg is in a folder called images? You need to write the correct directory structure so that the picture points to the correct place.

Make sure that the image is in that folder called /images because from what I can tell, it is not. If its in the SAME directory as your index.html page, then make sure you get rid of the folder name /images. If you lead the img src path to the wrong place, then it will show that X because it cant find it.

Is this your picture?

http://www.dahp.bravehost.com/Book1.jpg

Click on the above link, is that the picture? If it is, then you need to get rid of the images directory on your webpage. Just make it %26lt;img src=%26quot;Book1.jpg%26quot;%26gt;

Web page question?

The image source is %26quot;images/Book1.jpg%26quot;

make sure that file exists from the root directory of your webpage and make sure the spelling (including case) is exactly right.

That%26#039;s all I got.

Other Replys:Looks likes the folder %26quot;images%26quot; doesnt excist on your server.

1- make a folder and put your picture in there

or

2- chage your html code%26quot;images/book1.jpg%26quot; to %26quot;book1.jpg%26quot;

Other Replys:It seems that you don%26#039;t have the picture in the images folder.

if you go to this link you%26#039;ll see what I mean.

http://www.dahp.bravehost.com/images/Boo...

By typing this link, it should show that picture on Internet Explorer.

Verify that you have the image %26quot;Book1.jpg%26quot; in the images folder. Another thing is that you don%26#039;t need to put the hole path for the image.

http://www.dahp.bravehost.com/images/Boo...

You can just put %26lt;img src=%26quot;/images/Book1.jpg%26quot;%26gt;

How do I find all web domains given the IP server host address?

I%26#039;m trying to obtain a list of web domains that share the same IP server -- for free.

Is there a service online or piece of freeware that will do this for me?

An example of what I%26#039;m trying to do is the reverse IP whois at DomainTools.com:

Check out: http://whois.domaintools.com/yahoo....

This site provides information on Yahoo.com.

The piece I%26#039;m most interested in duplicating for free is found under the %26quot;Domain Tools Exclusive%26quot; section called %26quot;Reverse IP.%26quot; On Yahoo%26#039;s profile, it is noted that 35 other sites share this IP. Click on the link brings you to a short list -- you have to subscribe to see the full list.

Is this information actually free for anyone to harvest -- who provides it, and how can I tap into it?

Again: Looking for free tools only.

Thanks in advance!

How do I find all web domains given the IP server host address?

There isn%26#039;t a reliable free way to do this for free.

What%26#039;s happening, as you suggest, is a reverse DNS lookup. You give an an IP, and it will give you every site registered to that IP.

Problem is, most domains are setup so that people looking for a DOMAIN (usually a web page) can have the system give them an IP so their computer can find it. I had a small server online for a while with one real IP address; should you have done a reverse lookup on that IP, it would have given you the main name for the server. The rest of the domains I setup for virtual hosting; I assigned them the same IP address as the main server and let the web server software figure out what page to hand over. I *never* registered the reverse lookup for those domains.

That said, the main free tool for looking them up is %26quot;nslookup.%26quot; For instance, type %26quot;nslookup %26lt;IP%26gt;%26quot; and it will give you the domain name; do the reverse, and it%26#039;ll give you the reverse.

Since what comes up depends on what has been registered in DNS for a reverse lookup, your mileage will seriously vary.

Website hosting?

Hi, I have a domain name available and would like to publish a new personal web pages (website) in that web domain. It seems that for website hosting all the service providers are asking for an additional monthly charge. Please advice if you aware of any free option available to publish a website and good tool for website development.

Website hosting?

There are a number of free sites. Just do a google search for %26quot;free web hosting%26quot;

1and1.com is a great choice if you can pay a few dollars a month. They also provide some great free software to help build it.

Other Replys:Here%26#039;s one that%26#039;s free with no ADS either, with full features like cPanel, five FTP accounts, five email addresses, five MySQL databases, and auto-installers for a bunch of goodies like WordPress, osCommerce, PHPBB, and then some...

http://www.hesitantrhino.com/free-web-ho...

Other Replys:At the end of the day you get what you pay for with web hosting. If you can afford it then you are better off finding a host with an affordable product for you, websites are like eating peanuts.... you can%26#039;t stop at one..... so it is best to set yourself up with an option for future growth. If you look at selling stuff further down the track you want a site with good stats tracking, the ability to ftp in to it when you want and to be free of free ads that free hostings have.

Many of these hosts also have templates and sitebuilders that will help with your first web site.

I know that you asked for free, but I have seen others burnt by free web hosts and having to change on a regular basis when they collapse.

Phil

Other Replys:I don%26#039;t think there are any website hosting service providers that are free, as for a good website development tool I recommend XSite Pro its very good and its very easy to use! Find more about XSite Pro here: http://www.reviewpot.com/reviews/XSitePr...

Other Replys:Hi,

When choosing a web host it%26#039;s of course important to consider the cost (some hosting can be very expensive) but here are some other important things you should take into consideration too:

Web Hosting Space: Some web hosts will only give you 500MB or so of space. This could be a concern if you are looking at creating large websites.

Bandwidth: Some web hosts will severely limit the bandwidth you can use before you incur extra charges.

Uptime: There%26#039;s no point in having a website if people can%26#039;t see it. Does your web host offer at least a 99% uptime guarantee?

Number of websites allowed: If you%26#039;re looking to host more than one website on your account, will your web host charge you more to do this?

Support: If you have any problems you need to be able to contact your web host quickly and easily to get the problem sorted.

I have used Hostgator as my web host for over two years now and have been very very impressed with them. Firstly they%26#039;re very cheap but still give me more web hosting space and bandwidth than I%26#039;ll ever need, the ability to host unlimited websites, a 99.9% uptime guarantee and great customer support. You can find them at http://www.webhostgator.info
