Is it self hosting free?

how differences between self hosting and external hosting?

which one better?

how to budget web development?

Is it self hosting free?

Self hosting requires your own server, and you still have to pay an internet service provider for bandwidth. Unless you pay for a T1 line, your users will most likely encounter a slower website. You also have the option to co-locate your server with a company who will provide power, maintenance, and internet for a fee.

External hosting allows you space on a shared server with other websites. You log in remotely and upload your content. The provider charges a fee, either monthly with a capped bandwidth usage, or sliding scale based on usage. The advantage here is speed and price. GoDaddy has cheap hosting ($9.99 a month, I think). You don%26#039;t have to provide a server, just content.

Are you bugeting for labor as well, or just hosting?

To make it short, go for external hosting. It%26#039;s a lot more worry free, for the most part.

For self hosting, you should have a good knowledge and background in computing. In addition, you also need a few prerequisites from your ISP like static IP address. You can use dynamic IP but it will be a lot more complicated.

I use imhosted.com for external hosting. I pay $6.95 per month on a yearly basis and I get 2000 GB storage, 12 TB bandwidth plus a free domain for life as long as I host with them.

In terms of budgeting for web development, consider what the website is for. If it%26#039;s graphics driven (like huge amount of images/music/videos etc) then you will need a large storage. Then you work out how many people are going to visit the website (traffic). This will tell you the bandwidth you need. It should be fairly straight forward to work out the rest of what you need.

Other Replys:Go with external. Much better for your budget if you%26#039;re at least a little serious with your website.

Other Replys:I would not suggest to host your self as you will need to talk to your internet providers who usually will not agree. Also you will have to run your computer 247 all the time for webpages to be accressible and it will damage your computer in the long term.

Other Replys:Hosting the servers yourself is no-longer cost effective. You can rent servers in data centers hooked up to high-speed lines that you could otherwise never afford for next to nothing now a days. Check out http://hosted4.us the last time I checked you could get Virtual Private Servers in a Data center for somewhere around $29.99 and if anything goes wrong, they have 24hr tech support.
